All around the Oosterschelde, mussels, oysters and crumpets can be found on and between the stones in the tidal zone along the foot of the dike. You can pick up two hours before and two hours after low tide. At high tide, the shellfish are submerged and can no longer be found. An indication of the tide can be found via the tide tool.

Keep an eye on the tide and the weather so that you cannot be surprised by the rising water.

Accessibility

The Oosterschelde is a protected nature reserve (Natura 2000). You can go to many places, but not everywhere. The areas where you are allowed to go (accessible areas) can be found on the this map  en folder of Rijkswaterstaat. Also make sure not to disturb nature in these areas (see rules).

All information can be found at https://www.np-oosterschelde.nl/nl/doen/oesters-rapen.htm
