Relax
From your home in Suzannaland you can reach the large open marina of Sint-Annaland, the popular sandy beach on the Krabbenkreek within a few minutes, or you can walk or cycle outside the dikes in the direction of Stavenisse. You can completely relax in the surrounding polders.

In Sint-Annaland there are various catering establishments in and outside the village. Fries, snacks, pizzas and the like are available at two snack bars in the center. For a drink you can go to three cafes on the Havenplein. All also have an outdoor terrace. Just outside the Suzannapolder you will find a holiday park the Crab Creek and brasserie The Deu-Braek. Sport
In the sporting field there is a lot to do in Sint-Annaland, interesting for individual athletes as well as those who want to do something more in a group. The Culture
Various cultural associations are active in Sint-Annaland. In any case, there is a lot of singing, given the many choirs. There is something for everyone. The Royal Fanfare Accelerating is the oldest music association in the municipality was founded in 1881 and still an active club with a musical partnership with the Zeeland Music School en primary school De Casembroot. Get to know Sint-Annaland
Sint-Annaland presents itself as a place where people can visibly enjoy themselves. In the village there are striking buildings that date from the long history of the agricultural village with a lot of horticulture. This horticulture ensures colorful flower fields in spring and summer that make a walk or bike ride even more spectacular and colorful.
Shop
You will find everything for your daily shopping in the spacious and modern equipped Jumbo supermarket on the Spuistraat or the various craft shops in the Voorstraat and on the Ring. You will find there, among other things, the following specialties, a butcher with a regional clientele and a traditional bakery. But also various clothing stores and hairdressing salons, drugstore, jeweler, bicycle shop, bookstore and a gift shop. There are also two liquor stores in Sint-Annaland. At the marina and in the business park just outside Sint-Annaland you will find a maritime shop, a construction shop, a kitchen and sanitary store, car companies, crop protection products and decorative paving. Primary education
There are two primary schools in the village that operate together under one roof. Public primary school De Casembroot and the School with the Bible offer a complete range of education for children up to and including 12 years. Both schools are also equipped for preschoolers. Each in their own way, the schools organize many in- and extracurricular activities for their students.
The two schools work together in various areas, for example a youth project with Care Cooperatives Anna Cares, working on raising awareness about caring for each other. In this community school there is also a branch of the Zeeland library established, specializing in books and other educational resources for young people.
De Schutse care center
The residents of Sint-Annaland are proud of De Schutse care center. A safe haven for those who can no longer live at home. The Schutse Zorg Tholen Foundation has a Protestant Christian signature, but everyone is welcome. It offers concepts for nursing, care, housing, domestic support, guidance, well-being and daytime activities. As far as day care is concerned, this is offered at two locations in the village. If necessary, the Schutse, together with the Anna Zorgt Care Cooperative, will provide transport there and back home. In addition to the extensive team of employees, this care center is supported by numerous volunteers from the village and the municipality of Tholen.
What is unique is that people still make their own meals on location. In their restaurant In the Neighborhood 55+ residents of the village are also welcome six days a week to enjoy their delicious cooking, the great popularity says it all.
Apartment complex Annahof
The Annahof apartment complex was taken into use in 2017. It borders directly on the Suzannapolder and the Havenplein and is therefore very strategically located, close to all amenities. Housing Corporation citylander owns the complex which consists of
8 owner-occupied apartments and 37 rental apartments in all shapes and sizes. The Annahof residents' committee organizes various fun activities for its residents. In the complex, De Schutse care center has a day care facility and care cooperative Anna Cares has its office there and periodically organizes meaningful and fun activities for the members of the cooperative in its activity room.
Anna takes care of you
The presence of Care Cooperative Anna Zorgt is unique in the wider region. Residents of Sint-Annaland have taken the initiative to work together in the field of more and better care, especially for the vulnerable seniors in the village. The cooperative now focuses on all age groups by, among other things, organizing activities and setting up initiatives related to care, health, vitality and doing fun things together. Almost half of the households in Sint-Annaland are members of Anna Zorgt. Not only because they now need care, but also to support each other and improve the quality of life in the village together.
Three volunteer coordinators can be reached by phone or email every day. They hold office on Monday and Thursday mornings. Anna Zorgt is developing strongly and receives support and support from both the local and national government and institutions. Medical Center De Smisse
Sint-Annaland currently has two GPs who can be found five days a week Medical Center de Smisse in the middle of Front Street. Vroonhof seniors complex
The De Vroonhof senior citizen complex has also been built next to the care centre. Seniors can then continue to live independently for longer in their own apartment and, if necessary, use the services of the adjacent De Schutse.
If it is desirable, facilities such as the Schutse, Vroonhof, Annahof and Anna ensure that parent(s) can live very close to you. He and/or she will be given their own place and appropriate care will be arranged quickly if necessary.

History
In the year 1475 Charles the Bold his half-sister Anne of Burgundy permission to create a salt marsh area near the island Tholen to dike. She founded a church there which she dedicated – and with it the entire village – to her patroness, the holy Anna.
Sint-Annaland is a typical Ring-Voorstraat village with the church in the middle of the Ring of houses and barns. There was a harbor on the other side of the Voorstraat. In 1492 a cruciform church was built and an associated monastery. On May 23, 1692, the village was hit by fire. In a short time 56 houses went, one stew, a brewery and 34 barns were lost. The current church dates from 1899. In Sint-Annaland you will find two windmills, including a wooden post mill from 1684-85. This makes it the oldest windmill in Zeeland. The other mill is flour mill The Four Winds from 1847. The former town hall on the Bierensstaat has been home to the regional museum De Meeste since 1973.
It was mainly the many craftsmen who helped to develop Sint-Annaland into what it is today. Especially in harvesting the madder roots people were very skilled here. An orange/red dye was extracted from the roots, which gave color to Europe in the Middle Ages. The village traditionally had many farm workers and numerous small entrepreneurs. That still ensures a lot of liveliness and development urge in this core.
