The story of: Petra Deurloo – Texaco Scherpenisse

Since 2005, the Texaco Scherpenisse gas station has been prominently located on one of the access roads to the Scherpenisse core. In 2008 the gas station was taken over by De Pooter Olie from Terneuzen. At the time, Petra Deurloo started as an employee and she has been the branch manager of Texaco Scherpenisse for four years now. Her team consists of a club of five pleasant ladies, three of whom also worked for the former owner, the Duine family.

Why did I choose this profession? I like the work very much! If you work at the gas station, you have a lot of customer contact. For example, you know how the neighbor of that customer is doing, that the son of the other customer has passed and that one customer has just become a grandmother. You really notice the 'us-knows-us' feeling here. I am proud of the employer, De Pooter Olie. Despite the fact that they are located further away in Terneuzen and operate several gas stations, they also occasionally make time to stop by.

Real service with a listening ear

Our customers mainly come from the neighborhood and through our personal approach we want to demonstrate our added value compared to an unmanned pumping station. We are ready for people who need assistance with refueling, want to be advised about the available products and services and/or just want to have a nice conversation. We believe that buying locally is very important to maintain shops and we also hope that residents of Tholen also think about this when refueling. In addition, we support all kinds of associations in combination with our DPO Fuel Card and sponsor locally where possible.

Is your fuel tank light on? Then think of Texaco Scherpenisse and come and refuel with us! All tourists are also very welcome and we are happy to give tips for exploring the area. But you can also come to us for a nice gift, such as a flower, chocolate or gift voucher. We organize promotions around certain holidays and, where possible, other Thool companies are the suppliers. We also sell newspapers and magazines and are very proud of our car wash. We are happy to advise customers about the various washing programs available. Our location makes this a convenient service on the way home or camping.

Would love to see more customers again

I would like it to become busier at the pump and for customers to feel more comfortable. Due to the mandatory working from home, fewer liters were refueled, simply because less was driven. The customers were also present in the shop for less time, perhaps out of fear. On the other hand, we have now experienced extra well how important it is to be present in the village, for the customer to be able to buy small products in this special time. Hopefully the customers will continue to appreciate that too.
