The story of: Maja Westdorp – DA Drugstore Maja
Maja Westdorp has had her drugstore in the heart of Sint-Annaland for more than 30 years. Together with regular employee Carola, DA Drogerij Maja receives many customers every week. She and her husband Kees bought the home furnishings store on the Ring. At the time, she was a pharmacy assistant in Bergen op Zoom. Health and advising products to become or stay healthier was well known to her and she could use the knowledge from the pharmacy in her own drugstore. The company name was also quickly conceived at the time. In addition to the name of the owner, there is also a big nod to the well-known and trusted brand name Maja for the soap and talcum powder.
From her previous profession as a pharmacist's assistant, this step towards self-employment was a logical choice. Helping people, giving advice, knowing what an active ingredient does in the body. But they also help with selecting a fragrance, shower or shampoo, make-up advice, etc. They still follow refresher courses, webinars and training to advise the customer as well as possible. The products they sell make people feel healthier, better, fitter, more beautiful and happier.
Broad customer base appreciates personal advice
“Our added value is the personal advice, so no longer ordering via that computer screen, but coming to the store to see what is for sale, to smell and feel. And we will explain to you why it is better to choose one or the other product. Because yes, every person is different and by asking questions we come together to a product that is suitable for you,” says Maja. Her customers come from all over the island of Tholen and the surrounding area. A folder is distributed every 14 days with super good promotions and favorable prices.

Maja's dream is that this store may continue to exist. Also for the service they offer with the Post NL counter and the ING service point. Maja has always made a strong case for maintaining the ING service point, as this service is unique to Tholen. ING customers are helped with their financial affairs and a walk-in consultation hour is organized every Thursday morning for customers who need help with internet banking. Very close and familiar.
