The story of: Hermen Bouman – Woonboulevard Poortvliet XXL

Everything is for sale in the Winkel van Sinkel. That is now a thing of the past and the grocery store of yesteryear has grown into the largest residential boulevard in the Benelux. Woonboulevard Poortvliet XXL can be found on the outskirts of Poortvliet. In 2019, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary and that fact was awarded the title Purveyor to the Court. A very honorable award for a company with an exceptional track record. Hermen Bouman is the current general manager and together with a number of his brothers and sisters forms the management. Also the 5^e generation is now active within this family business.   

The store started in the old core of Poortvliet in 1919 as a small grocery store and gradually expanded into a complete residential boulevard with an area of ​​no less than 50.000 square meters. The company has its roots in Poortvliet and they have always remained faithful. However, the company is also spreading its wings and Bouman&Potter branches can be found in Rotterdam and Eindhoven. In total, the company has about 250 employees. Hermen actually rolled into the business more or less naturally during his school days due to holiday work. Later on, it was a conscious choice to continue in this industry. “It's great that you can actively advise and contribute ideas about the design of a house. You contribute, as it were, to the customer's living happiness,” says Hermen.

What makes this store so special is the combination of national formulas and its own collections. From curtains to home accessories and from sofas to box springs. We offer everything to make your house a home. Our employees make the difference. From personal advice in the store to professional delivery and assembly by our delivery service. If, despite all due care, something has gone wrong, we will gladly solve it in a targeted and adequate manner. That is why customers also rate us with a 9.” Those customers come mainly from Flanders, the southwest of the Netherlands and increasingly from all over the Netherlands, thanks in part to the offices in Eindhoven and Rotterdam.

Dream on

General director Hermen Bouman dreams of further increasing customer appreciation for his company and thereby delivering even more added value for the customer. All this with a minimal footprint. “But enough talk, come and shop with us while enjoying a cup of coffee and something delicious.”
