Playground free and happy

Come by!

Playground association Vrij en Blij in Sint-Annaland opened its gates on 24 August 1960. The founders were: Messrs A. Rijnberg, C. den Braber, C. van Winkelen, JC van Vossen, L. Hage and the ladies L. Quist, C. Moerland-van Poortvliet and A. van Vossen-Rijnberg.

The first location of the playground was the filled-in harbor where the parking lot of the supermarket Jumbo is now. In 1965 the playground moved to the 'Tonhuis', which now houses the showroom of a garage. In 1966 the playground had to move to Hoenderweg, where De Annawas is now located. As far as relocations are concerned, things remained calm until 1980. In 1980 the playground had to move to Schoolstraat. That was a great location, but with the arrival of the community school, the playground had to be moved to another part of Schoolstraat, number 2008, in 17.

Playground association Vrij en Blij has therefore been committed to playing outside in a safe environment for almost 59 years, in recent years in the center of the village of Sint-Annaland. Thanks to all the volunteers and the involvement of the more than 750 members, everyone from young to old can enjoy the good atmosphere in the playground. Come by soon!
