A lot is happening in the field of culture in Zeeland. There are many festivals, but also museums, galleries, art houses and more. And now they are just as closed as in the rest of the Netherlands. But there is a whole lot of creative people working in the cultural sector and they ensure that you can experience the Zeeland culture at home on your laptop or smartphone. Museums
A number of Zeeland museums have opened their doors online. In the maritime muZEEum take a walk through the entire museum in four short films; really one virtual tour So! Their employees (including the children's director) also tell on Proud of the museum about their favorite object in the museum. And then there is also their collection of drawings by children's book illustrator Wim Hofman on the website (plus downloadable coloring pages).
The Zeeland Museum has their collection online made accessible. The museum also always offers people the space to be creative themselves. Those workshops are not going right now, but there is one online workshop with building plans for a 17th-century ship and a whole series of beautiful and artistic Zeeland coloring pages (just as fun and relaxing for children as adults). At the Flood Museum the online offer is so large that you hardly know where to look. All kinds of facts about the Delta Works, pieces from the collection and impressive eyewitness accounts. Everything is just accessible on their home page.
Also the Department store 'Museum Land van Axel' offers one virtual tour at. Or make a tour by Museum School Time.
grab a movie
Cinema Middelburg even if we don't have to socially dissociate, offers movies through a streaming service. That service Picl is now also available. Movie by the Sea gives several Home Watch Tips every week. These can be tips for films that have just come out on the streaming services, but for the same money they put together a beautiful Youtube program for you around a certain theme. Heritage
There are beautiful monuments in Zeeland. You don't have to miss that one either. At the Big church beautiful things are happening in Veere. As soon as it is allowed, they will open their doors this year and Zeeland will have a new culture temple, in a particularly impressive building. Until then, there's an awesome one virtual tour. Truly a visual spectacle. You can see the church down to the smallest detail.
carillon
Take a look at the ancient carillon of the monumental City Hall in Veere. Through this video on Instagram you can see the city carillonneur at work while 'stitching' bell tunes on the eighteenth century playing drum. By inserting 'pins' in different places in the drum, the drum causes the drum to strike a different hammer on a bell. This creates a melody of different bells when turning.
Zeeland music
Zeeland is bursting with musical talent and therefore also of musical initiatives. Pascal Jacobson made'Behind the Monster' for anyone who is afraid. Danny Vera makes home recordings from his conservatory. So he released a brand new song: 'Hold on to Let Go'. Do you feel like dancing around your house? Then there's it Zeeland DJ Collective. Twenty DJs play a set several times a week and collect money for charity (Red Cross) and Zeeland entrepreneurs who are hit hard by the corona problem. Pop stage the Spot is ON. They have a complete page furnished with happiness and medicine against boredom. Every week you will find new playlists, games, video clips, introduction rounds, retrospectives and more.
Online theater performance
An evening at the theater is now out of the question, but theater makers and companies have found a way to let you enjoy performances at home from the couch. Zeeland theaters collected tips for home which you can enjoy until the doors of the theaters in Zeeland open again. Sit back and look at a nice collection of online registrations of various shows.
Get started yourself
De Children's art week is an initiative that usually focuses on Zeeland students, but now that they are all at home, the assignments that they can perform online and there are some very nice crafting and drawing tips. Also great fun to do with the children in other Dutch provinces. Also with Museum Veere are there artistic assignments for children in the home workshop onlinesuch as shooting with your smartphone, creating a still life or taking a portrait. Enough fun things for kids to get creative with.
