Theorbe… the hidden treasure of the past

Saturday 26 August at 15.30 pm Nelleke Boosman will give the Town Hall concert a mysterious dimension. Under the title "Theorbe… the hidden treasure of the past” she will play this distinguished string instrument in the Old Town Hall in stylish compositions by Robert de Visée and Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger, among others. In their time, the 17th and 18th centuries, or the Baroque, these composers were excellent composers for and players of the bass lute, the theorbo.

The concert takes place in the Vierschaar, on the ground floor, with which the theorbo forms a beautiful unity both visually and acoustically.

Nelleke Boosman studied guitar with Lex Eisenhardt at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam for the Diplomas Teaching Musician and Performing Musician, and privately with soloist Laura Young. Out of love for early music, Nelleke also studied theorbo with David van Ooijen and Willem Mook. She is also a permanent guitarist/theorist of various chamber music ensembles.
