Christmas concert “Concerto di Natale” in Old Town Hall Tholen

The Evening Concert on Saturday evening, December 16, in the Gothic Old Town Hall of Tholen will focus on the Christmas story.
The Anthonie Keldermans Concerts Foundation has invited the ensemble “La Primavera”, specialized in early music.
The name (Primavera is Spanish/Italian and Portuguese for spring) refers to the musical spring that originated in the late Renaissance and blossomed in the Baroque. The focus is on programs that are brought to the public full of passion and joy and in an accessible way.
The Concerto di Natale program, composed of Italian and Spanish vocal and instrumental music from the seventeenth century, focuses on Mary. Not only the spiritual but also the human side of the mother of the baby Jesus will be heard, as in “Hor ch'e tempo di dormire” by Merula or in the moving berceuse “Figlio dormi” by Kapsberger. To put the child to sleep, in “Cantendos Jilgerillos” by Escalada, two goldfinches sing as witnesses to all the beautiful feelings and beauty that the Christmas season brings.
