Ankie Hettema-Pieterse was a teacher at De Regenboog primary school in Tholen for many years. Afterwards a few more years at the Kompas in Anna Jacobapolder. Based on her teaching practice, she wrote the book 'Heaven and Earth in the World of the Child'. In this lecture with PowerPoint she discusses the three heavenly and four earth laws that she describes in the book and makes them recognizable to us with the help of phenomena in nature and also how they are connected to our own inner life. Well-known expressions testify to this connection: 'After rain comes sunshine', 'Behind the clouds the sun always shines', 'Boontje comes for his wages' or 'What you sow, you will reap'. We live in turbulent and uncertain times. What basis do we give our children so that they can handle unknown future situations with self-knowledge, emotional balance, flexibility, resilience and creativity? Parents, grandparents and teachers, in short: everyone who is connected to children, is cordially invited.
